About this blog

Between the Screens is intended to offer a different take on recent media topics, as well as brand marketing, design and a few other interests of mine. In general I try to avoid rehashing material that is posted on other sites. For that you can follow me on Twitter.

I also try to cover all five “screen” categories where content is carried. Although the distinctions are blurring, they can currently be defined by the following denominations:

1) The movie screen
2) The television screen
3) The computer screen, be it a desktop or laptop
4) The “fourth screen” being a mobile device like cell phone or iPod
5) The outdoor screen, as in OOH (out of home) screens, billboards or large displays for group viewing

A bit about me… I worked for 12 years in television at Canal 2, Nicaragua’s leading television station. Beforehand I got a Bachelor of Arts in History and Studio Art from Williams College and in between I got an MBA in Marketing from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at NYU. I am currently working as an advertising sales representative for Starmedia and the Orange Advertising Network.

Finally regarding the title of the blog, “Between the Screens;” it is sort of a double entendre, though of the professional variety. The words obviously refer foremost to the subject matter, and how it is often necessary to “read between the lines” in media in order to actually gain an insightful perspective. Secondly, the title is a pun on how I’ve recently jumped from TV to online.
