I’ve been running into a lot of talk lately about how the movie and television industry is around the corner from a terrible fall in consumer usage given the new parameters of digital distribution, similar to what befell the music and newspaper industries.

There’s a terrific panel that touches upon this from a variety of industry palyers. The panel, hosted by Ken Auletta, features writer and director Nora Ephron, actress Anne Hathaway and Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton. Among its many worthy sound bites Nora Ephron states, “We’re in the last days of copywright if you want to be really grim about it… There are going to be someday fewer movies and fewer people going to them because people are going to watch everything not on their TVs but on their computers.”

Dire stuff. The rest of the conversation can be found here at The New Yorker.
