6 Weeks Later: How I Cut My Screen Time by 21 Hours a Week
I made it to the end of my 6-week screen time reduction journey! 🎉 After hitting a bit of a setback last week, I bounced back strong—averaging just 2 hours and 6 minutes per day on my phone this week. Most of that usage was concentrated between Sunday and Tuesday, with a steep drop-off toward the weekend. I even hit a major milestone: my first sub-1-hour screen time day!
From Doomscrolling to Intentional Living
When I started this journey, my most-used apps were YouTube, Instagram, and Reddit. Now? My top apps are the Phone app, Messages, and Chrome—a dramatic shift toward more purposeful phone use.
I also reduced my daily screen time by 3 hours, reclaiming 21 hours per week to invest in rest, creativity, and connection. Here’s what the final week looked like, without endlessly scrolling my phone:
Sunday
Still recovering from a cold, I spent most of Sunday resting and napping on the couch. Not exciting—but very necessary for healing.
Monday
I had dinner with my parents, who just got back from a trip. We swapped stories—mine about their dog, theirs about their adventures.
Tuesday
A low-key recovery day with a short grocery run. Goose and I curled up on the couch and binged The Vampire Diaries. I also picked up some adult activity books and soothing soup to keep the healing vibes going.
Wednesday
I finally glazed the pottery pieces I threw a few weeks ago. Can’t wait to see how they turn out next week!

Thursday
Date night! We grabbed subs and caught up after some time apart.
Friday
Another cozy date night—this time indoors with a feel-good comedy. Perfectly chill.
Saturday
Celebrated one of my best friend’s birthdays with rooftop Aperol spritzes and a brewery crawl. The weather was beautiful and the vibes were high.
What’s Next for My Digital Wellness Goals?
While this marks the end of my 6-week challenge, it’s far from the end of my screen time goals. My new target is under 1 hour per day, and after this week, that actually feels achievable!
I’ll be sharing monthly updates from now on, so stick around if you’re on a similar journey or looking for motivation to start.
